Dr. Spath’s Evening Hygiene Routine

Finding the right oral hygiene routine can feel challenging, especially when you’re tucking in late or experiencing lifestyle changes. That’s why our favorite Newport Beach dentist is sharing his bedtime oral hygiene routine to help you achieve a healthier happier smile.

Step 1: First Dr. Spath flosses with coco floss in a C shape that he slides vertically up and down in between each tooth. This is key to removing any lingering food stuck in those hard-to-reach places.

Step 2: Next, he brushes his teeth with an electric toothbrush. It’s important to let the toothbrush do the work for you with its self-timer that alerts you and the ultrasonic vibrations that removes the tartar and plaque build-up around the teeth.

Step 3: Pair your electric toothbrush with nonabrasive toothpaste. We know that finding toothpaste at the local store is challenging when there are so many to choose from and they’re all making grandiose promises. Dr. Spath recommends picking a toothpaste that has an RDA of less than 100. This is great for those with sensitive teeth and gum recession.

Step 4: Once steps 1-3 are complete he likes to finish his routine with a WaterPik. This flushes everything out well. If you’re prone to getting cavities, Dr. Spath recommends placing a few drops of bleach into your water flosser. This helps balance the PH of your mouth which helps reduce cavity formation.

It’s important to remember that doing something is better than nothing. However, if you’re looking to achieve optimal oral health we recommend this quick four-step bedtime routine provided by the best dentist in Newport Beach, Dr. Andrew Spath. or more oral hygiene tips or for a full dental cleaning in Newport Beach, CA schedule your dental appointment with the best cosmetic dentist at Spath Dentistry.
