[Case Study] Common Medication Leads To 4 Crowns

Case Study Details

Due to her medications causing a dry mouth this patient has experienced a lot of cavities despite her good oral hygiene. This is an issue that many people experience. Most prescription medications dry out our mouths and therefore, we are unable to buffer the acids that are the byproduct of oral bacteria metabolizing sugars.

In her case, we elected to place 4 crowns on her front teeth with the margins located below the gumline to limit future risk for cavities on these teeth. We were all thrilled with the beautiful natural result we were able to achieve. This patient was also placed on caries control protocols and was referred back to her physician for reevaluation of medication and dosage.
